Seuang River Experience for Families

The Seuang River Experience is a sustainable community tourism project set up to both provide income to 12 villages in the region, and to encourage cultural exchange and interaction. Your accommodation will be in the simple houses of your host family, where you will cook meals alongside them. This is a truly authentic insight into the life of Laos’ ethnic minorities.

  • Day 1 - Luang Prabang Arrival - Mount Phousi - Night Market

    Place Transport: Airplane 
    Meals: Dinner
    You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel and free leisure. In the late afternoon, you will climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred and gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset and the Mekong River. In the evening, you will go around the city's Night Market which offers handmade textiles woven by local people and ethnic minority communities.

    Day 2 - Luang Prabang – Seuang River

    Meals: Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner
    In the morning, drive to the Seuang River Experience which is approximately two hours north of Luang Prabang. Enjoy a tour of the village and learn about local lifestyles. Later on, you may want to visit one of the local homes for a fun cooking class. Your hosts will first provide an overview of the menu with a description of the ingredients. At the end of the class, you will enjoy the meal that you have prepared. Tonight, you will stay in a local family’s house.

    Day 3 Seuang River Nature Trek - Bamboo Rafting

    In the morning, we will join with villagers on a walk through community forest areas to learn of their importance. As you walk, you will collect seeds of threatened trees that need to protect and replant. When you arrive back to the village, we will prepare the seeds that you collected for germination at the community tree nursery.  These seedlings will be planted by villagers in the next rainy season. Embark on an adventure down the river on a bamboo raft passing waterfalls and towering mountains as you go. In the evening, spend some time assisting local school teachers at the community education center. 

    Day 4 - Seuang River – Pak Ou Caves – Cruise to Luang Prabang

    In the morning, you will say goodbye to your hosts and mark the occasion with a traditional Baci blessing ceremony. Depart from the village and drive to Pak Ou where you will begin a cruise. It will take you to the nearby Buddha Caves. Explore the caves before returning to your boat and cruising to Luang Prabang.

    Day 5 - Luang Prabang Depature

    Place Transport: Airplane 
    Meals: Breakfast
    After breakfast, you will enjoy a guided-tour seeing the city's oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground which represents classical Laotian architecture. You will then visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun. In the afternoon, you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.

    - The services of experienced English-speaking guides as indicated in the itinerary
    - Meals (as specified in the itinerary) in the best local restaurants, or picnics where no suitable restaurant is available.

    - Dinners, except as specified above.
    - Drinks, gratuities and personal expenses.
